- Develop a plan for your office pranks well in advance. Since office pranks can often involve a lot of people, you'll want to keep track of who's in the building and when. You might even consider going to the office very early or staying late one day and seeing roughly when people arrive and leave.
- Gather the materials you need to make the prank work. If, for example you intend to wrap a co-workers cube and everything in it with aluminum foil, then you'll want to head to the supermarket and pick up a roll.
- Have accomplices distract the target of your prank. For example, someone can ask the target to help with a bit of work, pulling the target away from their desk and work area. For pranks that require more time, you may need to have more than one person play the role of distractor.
- Work quickly. In order for pranks to be executed in the middle of the day, you need to be able to finish setup quickly or you may get caught red-handed.
- Complete your pranks the night before. Wait until everyone has left the office (except you and your conspirators) and then set about completing the prank. This may be an important step, especially for labor-intensive pranks like rearranging your boss's office.
